• A concert in aid of Michal Kulenty
  • 27.03.2008

Several Polish groups and soloists representing the so-called Christian trend in Polish music have got together in Warsaw’s Hybrydy/Palladium Club for a concert in aid of Michal Kulenty, who’s been struggling with cancer for the past six months.

Michal Kulenty, who will be 52 on Sunday, is a very versatile musician. He plays the saxophone, piano,  flute, clarinet and folk instruments, and has developed a fine career as a composer of film music and incidental music for the theatre.

He has worked closely with symphony orchestras and leading jazz groups.  In addition to gaining a diploma in saxophone from the Music Academy in Warsaw, he graduated from the Department of Polish Studies of Warsaw University.

Highlights in his career include concerts in Japan with the famous cellist Yo Yo Ma within the framework of the ‘Silk Road’ project.

The featured artists at the concert included Adam Rymarz and Up to Heaven, Gospel Rain, La Pallotina, Full Power Spirit, Viola Brzezińska, Tomek Kamiński and Marzena Grzymała. (mk)
