What was effectively a Poland B team drew 1-1 with Lithuania in Algarve, Portugal, Saturday as part of a week-long winter training camp.
Trainer Leo Beenhakker has sent an experimental squad to Portugal for mid winter training where they are playing in a round robin tournament with their Baltic neighbours, FC Ferreira and Wales. Beenhakker hopes the get-together will help prepare for vital World Cup qualifiers in the Spring.
In the game against Lithuania, Wisla’s Pawel Brozek scored in the 11th minute. But Poland saw their lead disappear in the 26th when Lithuania scored from a corner kick.
On February 4 Poland beat Portugese first division team FC Ferreiras by two goals to nil.
A stronger team will be put out on February 11 when Poland take on Wales. (pg)
