According to Geo TV, the body of the Polish engineer beheaded on Saturday by the Taliban has been found and recovered in the Swat Valley, north western Pakistan.
A forensic team is now examining the body in Pakistan’s capital, Islamobad.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski said that he can confirm that the man shown being beheaded in a video received by news agencies was indeed that of Piotr Stanczak, a geographical engineer kidnapped in north western Pakistan last September.
Meanwhile, President Lech Kaczynski has sent condolences to Stanczak’s family and said that such horrific acts will not be tolerated.
"We do not accept terrorism, never did and never will,” said President Kaczyński. He said the incident proves that no country is safe from such evil acts.
Polish Radio has been unofficially informed that the Pakistani Charge d'Affaires in Warsaw is being called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
Minister of Justice, Andrzej Czuma, said that the Polish secret service knows the names of the Taliban kidnappers as well as names of their relatives and friends and assured that a warrant for their arrest is being issued by Pakistani authorities.
