Over 32 kilos of cocaine have been confiscated by the Central Investigation Bureau (CBS) as part of an attempt to shut down a new drug trafficking route between South America and Europe.
According to Central Police Headquarters spokesperson Mariusz Sokolowski, this is a record amount of cocaine – the previous record being 23.5 kilos seized in 2008.
CBS agents, in coordination with Pomeranian regional police and customs officials, arrested 37-year-old Milan K. in Gdansk, northern Poland, who was keeping in a special hiding place the 32 kilos of cocaine. The man was in possession of a false Czech passport.
The man faces up to ten years in Polish prisons for drug trafficking. He will be held in prison for three months awaiting trial. (mmj)
