Krzysztof Penderecki’s Quartet No. 3, subtitled ‘Leaves from an Unwritten Diary’ is given its American premiere today at the Alexander Kasser Theatre at Montclair State University, New York State.
The work is performed by the Shanghai Quartet. Founded in China 25 years ago, it is now based in the United States.
Penderecki is one of the most acclaimed living composers. Last year numerous concerts of his music were held around the world to mark his 75th birthday. (mk)
