Justyna Kowalczyk has won the woman’s 15k Nordic skiing world championship in Liberec, Czech Republic.
Twenty six year old Kowalczyk finished the gruelling 15 kilometre race in 40 minutes, 55 seconds to take her first pursuit world title.
Justyna already won a bronze medal at this year’s championships, when she came third in the 10 kilometre race.
This year’s games are a career best for the skier from Limanowa near Nowy Sacz, southern Poland. She won a bronze medal in the 30 k freestyle at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. (pg)
