Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk offers his most solemn condolences to the victims and their families affected by the earthquake in L’Aquila, Italy.

“It is with great sorrow that I found out about the effects of the earthquake in L’Aquila. The Polish government and nation share the pain of the families of the victims and residents of the Abruzzi region who have lost their homes and will be required to rebuild their lives,” wrote Tusk in an official letter of condolences sent to his Italian counterpart Silvio Berlusconi.

“In the name of my staff and the citizens of the Republic of Poland, I offer you our greatest sympathy,” wrote Tusk to Berlusconi.

Monday morning, a catastrophic earthquake destroyed homes and injured hundreds of people in L’Aquila, central Italy. At least 30 people have been killed in the tragedy.

The earthquake reportedly measured 6.3 on the Richter scale and shocks were felt as far away as Rome, about 100 km west. (mmj)
