The Polish Phonographic Academy is giving its annual ‘Fryderyk’ Awards for achievements in pop and classical music during a gala ceremony tonight.
In its 15th edition the award will be presented in 32 categories ranging from classical music through pop to jazz. The renowned composers Krzysztof Penderecki and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki are to receive lifetime achievement awards.
The Polish Phonographic Academy grouping over 700 artists as well as professionals and journalists from the music industry was founded in 1999 at the initiative of the Polish Association of the Audio and Video Producers. From the very beginning one of its main goals was to honor Polish artists with its own award called 'Fryderyk'. (di)
