Ukrainian Prime Minister Julia Tymoshenko cancelled her visit to Warsaw today for as yet unknown reasons.
She was set to take part in the second day of the European People’s Party (EPP) congress and have meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Lech Kaczynski.
Tymoshenko was set to take part in today’s EEP congress where the pan-European party is to adopt their Manifesto in preparation for the forthcoming elections to the European Parliament in June and launch its electoral campaign.
The Ukrainian PM was also scheduled to meet with her Polish counterpart Donald Tusk and President Lech Kaczynski.
Today’s keynote speaker at the congress is Lech Walesa, Solidarity legend and former President of Poland, as well as Warsaw city mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz.
The EPP’s manifesto, entitled ‘Strong for the People’, sets out the Europe-wide party’s stance on fighting climate change, demographic challenges and EU unity. (mnj/pg)
