Forged cinema tickets flood Opole

07.07.2009

Police are investigating the source of 2,000 forged cinema passes in the southern city of Opole.

Staff in one of the cinemas in Opole came across forged cinema passes which sold to companies and may later be used to get a standard cinema ticket.

“The forgeries are not very good. The original and the forged pass can be differentiated in by the stamp on them,” Opole’s Police spokesman, Maciej Milewski said.

So far about 2,000 false passes have been discovered and cinemas could suffer losses amounting to several thousands of zloty.

A standard ticket to the Opole’s cinema costs 18-19 zloty, about 4 euro.

Polish law stipulates up to five years of imprisonment for forgery. (jg/pg)
