Lech Kaczynski has failed to sign around 100 diplomatic nominations made by the Foreign Ministry, claims Radoslaw Sikorski, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“The number of unsigned ambassadorial nominations is just accumulating,” Sikorski told TVP public television, adding that the Ministry is awaiting signatures for several very important ambassadorial positions.
Sikorski recalled the recent situation with the Ministry’s nomination of Anna Fotyga, former Foreign Minister, to the post of Polish Ambassador to the United Nations in New York city, claiming that the President took issue with her, even though Sikorski and the Sejm, the lower house of parliament, approved the decision.
The Foreign Minister is appealing to President Kaczynski to approve nominations in order to more swiftly execute the process of placing Poles in their ambassadorial positions around the world. (mmj)
