Animated Chopin

19.07.2009
The animated film studio Se-ma-for in the central city of Lodz is producing an animated film about Frederic Chopin, entitled Heart in the wall.

The film is planned as part of the celebrations of the Chopin Year in Poland, which falls in 2010. The film will not be ready earlier than 2011 but its producers claim it will be worth waiting for.

The screenplay is to be ready in August as are to be the projects of the puppets and drawings. Over 200 people will be working on the project for a planned 12 months.

Initially ,Se-ma for was to produce the film together with the British company BreakThru with which it had worked on the Oscar winning Peter and the Wolf , directed by Suzy Templeton.

However, the BreakThrough company set up a branch in Poland and plans to produce a film without the participation of Se-ma-for.

The heart in the wall
is therefore an answer of the Polish studio to the British plans. The Polish producers are reluctant to reveal the story, but promise it will be extremely attractive.

The background of the film will be the music of the great composer said the head of Se-ma-for Zbigniew Zmudzki, but the whole project will not be kept in a serious convention. “If any comparison comes to mind it would be rather Corpse Bride, than placid children cartoons, added Zmudzki. (ab/pg)
