TV celebrity Weronika M.-P. has been officially charged with corruption by the Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw.
The ex-wife of well-known actor Cezary Pazura was charged for demanding and taking a bribe as well as using connections to strike an illegal deal.
On Wednesday, Weronika M.-P. was caught red-handed in the act of taking a 100,000 zloty (24,000 euro) bribe from the chairman of the Scientific and Technical Publishing House (WNT).
The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau established that Weronika M.-P. asked for 450,000 zloty (107,000 euro) bribe, which was to be paid in several parts. In exchange for bribes, the celebrity was to offer assistance with a preferable purchase of the state-owned publishing house, which was to be privatized in a public auction.
Weronika M.-P. may face up to 8 years in prison if convicted. (mg/mmj)
