Justice Minister Andrzej Czuma has said he is ready to be dismissed if Prime Minister Donald Tusk decides he must go.
Czuma claims that there is no reason why he should be dismissed but assures that he is prepared for any eventuality. “I will not weep if I get dismissed,” said Czuma on a private radio station this morning.
Media speculate that PM Donald Tusk may dismiss Czuma today as a result of Blackjack-gate. Justice Minister was criticized for too hasty support of Miroslaw Drzewiecki, Sports Minister, and Zbigniew Chlebowski, head of Civic Platform’s parliamentary club, both allegedly involved in the gambling scandal.
Today, Andrzej Czuma has defended his opinion on the two politicians, citing the law, according to which a person is considered innocent until a proof of guilt is found. “I will be defeated in the battle over an old principle of Roman law,” said Czuma.
Meanwhile, the Law and Justice party has proposed a motion to establish a parliamentary investigative commission on the Black Jack gate.
The aim of the commission would be to investigate irregularities in the activities of people involved in the workings of a gambling bill.
A similar motion was made by the Democratic Left Alliance on Tuesday. Left-wing politicians wanted the commission to also check connections between politicians and gambling industry.(mg)
