Support for Tusk fading
14.10.2009
In the wake of numerous corruption allegations, support for Prime Minister Tusk is gradually falling.
According to a survey conducted by Gfk Polonia, 31 per cent of Poles want PM Donald Tusk to become a president, 19 per cent would rather see Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in the role and 17 per cent think that the post is suitable for Bronislaw Komorowski, parliament speaker.
In comparison with a similar survey conducted in June, Donald Tusk lost 5 percentage points, Radoslaw Sikorski gained 7 percentage points and Bronislaw Komorowski gained 12 percentage points.
“The fall of support for Tusk is closely related to the recent corruption scandals which involved his associates,” says political scientist Professor Kazimierz Kik.
The survey was conducted on 12 October among 500 people. (mg)
