Krakow, the Polish city most associated with John Paul II has asked the Vatican to let it conduct the beatification of the Polish Pope.
La Repubblica writes that Krakow and the Vatican are engaged in a secret war over where the beatification of the Pope John Paul II should take place.
La Repubblica claims that the Polish Pope will be pronounced blessed in April or May 2010.
Details about the ceremony will be announced on Wednesday in Rome during a presentation of a book A Pope who doesn't die - the inheritance of John Paul II by Gian Franco Svidercoschi. (mg)
