A recent CBOS opinion poll shows that Poles are still strongly attached to the place they live in and to the country in general.
Over 60 per cent feel tightly connected with their local community and their town, which is, interestingly, 8 per cent more than in a similar survey carried out in 2004.
Moreover, CBOS claims that the 5-year-long presence of Poland in the EU has not weakened Poles’ attachment to their country nor did it increase the number of people identifying with Europe.
Furthermore, only 28 per cent of Poles surveyed responded that they would like to move to another location within Poland. If the choice were between Poland and abroad, the majority (85 per cent) prefers to stay than to leave.
The survey was carried out in the beginning of October amongst a representative group of 1096 adult Poles living in Poland. (pb)
