Congregations for Sunday mass are getting smaller in Poland, shows a survey conducted by the Statistical Institute of the Catholic Church (ISKK).
According to the survey, there has been a 3.8 percent drop in the number of Poles attending Sunday mass and 2.3 per cent fewer taking communion.
The most devout diocese is in Tarnow in the south where 67.8 percent attend mass regularly. In the Krakow archdiocese one-in-two attend church on Sunday.
The survey was conducted by priests who counted the number of the faithful who attended Sunday mass in their parish on 11 October. The counting took place in over 10,000 parishes in the country. (mg)
