Rapper to get three year rap in prison?

24.11.2009
One of Poland’s top rappers, Peja, has been charged with exhorting fans at a concert to beat up a teenager.

Ryszard ‘Peja’ Andrzejewski was charged today by the Prosecutor’s Office in Zielona Gora, western Poland, of encouraging acts of violence against the young male, who the rapper says offended him at the gig in September.

The rapper, who has pleaded guilty, may spend up to three years in prison.

A separate charges against Peja’s fans who assaulted the 15-year-old has also been made. After the assault, the teenager’s father and city authorities pressed charges against Peja and asked city councils in Poland not to stage his concerts.

Peja is one of the most prominent artists in Poland‘s hip hop community. Best known as the front man for the Slums Attack band, he won a Fryderyk - the Polish equivalent of a Grammy or Brit Award - in 2002 for the album Na Legalu. (pg/mg)
