Longest lecture record-seeker starts today

09.12.2009
A law student at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, southern Poland, will attempt to break the world record in the category of the longest lecture.

Erol Muzawazi, from Zimbabwe, will deliver a 130-hour lecture, to both establish a new record and draw public attention to the problems of Africa. It is the confidence that young people can change the world of today that is the driving force behind the attempt, says Erol.

"Over 50 students of various nationalities will take part in the project. We want to show that despite cultural differences you may work together. It is, of course, a struggle with one's own body a battle against sleep,” adds the ambitious student.

Erol has so far set the Guinness record three times in the category. His achievements were overshadowed by a professor from India who delivered a 120-hour lecture two years ago. Erol’s 6-day attempt begins today. (aba/mmj)
