Police have detained 54 people nationwide in a paedophilia-related sting operation.
Krzysztof Hajdas of National Police Headquarters told Polskie Radio that the detentions – for possessing and distributing pornographic material of minors – took place all around the country
Police confiscated 56 computers, 71 hard drives, over 2,000 CDs and DVDs, discs, VHS cassettes, photographic equipment and mobile phones in the raids.
Agents worked together with information from Interpol and Polish Police Headquarters team combatting human trafficking to determine the addresses of those suspected of pedophilia.
Possession of pornographic material containing people under the age of 15 years can garner up to five years in prison while the distribution of child pornography nets an 8-year prison sentence. (mmj)
