The freezing conditions have taken the lives of several in Poland as temperatures continue to plunge.
Five people died last night, and about a dozen were injured from carbon monoxide poisoning from heaters.
"Three more men died from exposure to the cold. Fires have broken out, which is common during the onslaught of cold weather. Two people have been killed in a blaze in Warsaw. There are also cases of carbon monoxide poisoning; eight people are hospitalised after such an incident in Sopot, northern Poland," said Przemysław Guła, head of the Government Security Centre.
Weather forecasts point to more blizzards in the eastern parts of Poland. (ab)
