Every second Pole would vote for Civic Platform if a general election was held this month, shows a survey conducted by Gfk Polonia.
The percentage of the vote means the ruling Civic Platform would win 254 seats in parliament, which would give the party a majority and would not need a coalition partner to form a government.
The opposition Law and Justice party would take 126 seats, the Democratic Left Alliance 48 and the Polish Peasant’s Party 30.
In the last two weeks support for the Law and Justice party has fallen by 5 percent to 25 percent. Almost 10 percent of respondents would vote for the Democratic Left Alliance, which is one percentage point more than a month ago, and 6 percent would vote for the Polish Peasant’s Party.
The survey was conducted between 17 and 22 December among 989 people. (mg)
