The autopsy into the death of Grzegorz Michniewicz, director of the Prime Minister's Office, has confirmed that it was suicide.
The investigation, which began on December 24 - the day after Michniewicz was found dead at home by his driver - is to ascertain whether the suicide was assisted. The prosecutor’s office in Warsaw confirmed to Polskie Radio on Tuesday that Michniewicz had hung himself.
A hearing on Tuesday heard evidence given by Michniewicz’s wife. In the coming days, his neighbours and work colleagues are to also give evidence of the man’s state of mind.
It is still unknown what motivated Prime Minister Tusk‘s senior aid since January 2008 to take his life. (pg)
