A tram distributing knowledge about depression has appeared in the Silesian urban area, one of Poland's largest industrial regions. Passengers who hop on board are offered fliers and coupons for free medical consultations at selected clinics. They are also encouraged to fill out a form, testing their knowledge about the illness that affects some 120 million people around the globe, 1.5 million in Poland.
The anti-depression tram is an element of an information campaign launched by the Forum Against Depression.
“We want people to realize that depression is not a passing mood but a serious illness. We can fight against it and win, because depression can be cured,” says one of the organizers of the campaign, Sylwia Olczak.
Thanks to the tram campaign, the message about depression can reach people in various walks of life. Anti-depression trams will also appear in other big cities of Poland, including Krakow and Warsaw.
