The ruling Civic Platform has increased support in opinion polls in the last few weeks following Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s announcement that he will not be running for president.

According to PBS DGA pollsters, Civic Platform’s support has increased by three points from 45 percent in January to 48 percent. TNS OBOP pollsters find an even greater increase in support, from 49 to 57 percent.

CBOC polling agency sees Civic Platform going from 38 to 43 percent.

Observers say that the decision by the prime minister not to run in this year’s presidential elections has had a positive effect on the party and Donald Tusk in particular.

"Resignation from the presidential elections race has strengthened Donald Tusk,” Mikolaj Czesnik, a sociologist with the PAN and Social Psychology told TVP television. (pg)
