Former foreign minister Prof. Wladyslaw Bartoszewski has strongly criticized the decision to release a controversial biography of Ryszard Kapuscinski.
Bartoszewski has even threatened to break a contract with the publishing house which also publishes his books as a mark of protest.
“There are publishing houses which are entitled to release, for example, brothel guides but I doubt if I still want to publish my historical books with such a publisher,” said Prof. Bartoszewski.
The former foreign minister admits that he met Ryszrad Kapuscinski only once. “I read several of his books and I knew he came from a different environment than I did,” said Bartoszewski.
Kapuscinski Non Fiction, the biography of the renowned Polish journalist and writer, by Artur Domoslawski, will be published on 3 March by Swiat Ksiazki in spite of Kapuscinski’s wife’s attempt to ban the publication. Alicja Kapuscinska accuses Domoslawski of being inaccurate and of giving a false account of Kapuscinski’s work and life. (mg)
