The ‘All of Poland Reads to Kids’ campaign has celebrated its ninth year with a get-together in Warsaw of teachers, librarians and volunteers involved in the daily reading aloud to children as a way to make them love literature.
Polskie Radio, the media sponsor of the campaign, is among the recipients of the All of Poland Reads to Kids Foundation medal for promoting the importance of reading as part of the educational process.
Foundation President Irena Koźmińska told Polskie Radio that kindergartens and schools taking part in the campaign boast far better study results than those in which the children are read aloud only sporadically.
Prominent writer of children’s books Malgorzata Musierowicz was the special guest of the meeting.
The ‘All of Poland Reads to Kids’ campaign was launched in 2001 and now has participants in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. (mk/pg)
