A few days before the calendar announces Spring, Poland has fallen under another deluge of snow, up to 20 cm in places.
Heavy snow fell overnight in central Poland but also in Lower Silesia and in the south eastern region around Lublin.
Aircraft were refused landing permission at Warsaw’s Okecie airport, some planes being sent to other airports. The situation has returned to normal this morning, however, with planes taking off without delay.
An immediate thaw is expected today with temperatures rising from 0 to 3 degrees Celsius. Forecasters say Spring will finally arrive in Poland at the weekend. (pg)
