Bronislaw Komorowski is gaining support in the country for the race for the Presidential Palace and is clear favourite to beat President Kaczynski.

The opinion poll by PBS DGA shows that in the first round of elections - to be held this autumn - Komorowski would receive 33 percent share of the vote, with President Kaczynski on 24 percent. If Radek Sikorski was Civic Platform candidate he would receive 30 percent to Kaczynski’s 22 percent.

In a poll for GfK Polonia, in the second round - when only two candidates are left in the race - Komorowski would beat Kaczynski 52 to 28 percent. Sikorski would beat President Kaczynski by 48 to 30 percent.

The PBS DGA poll was conducted on 19-21 March from a sample of 1,055 and the GfK Polonia poll was taken on 18-22 March from a sample of 1000.

Voting is currently underway among Civic Platform’s 46,000 membership by post and via internet. Results will be known on March 27. (pg)
