Jane Campion, director of The Piano, is the guest of honour of the Off Plus Camera Film Festival in Kraków.

She has received the event’s newly-introduced award – ‘Against the Current’ – for her role in the development of independent cinema. The presentation ceremony preceded the Polish premiere of her latest feature Bright Star, which is to go on general release in Poland on 14 May.

The programme of the Off Plus Camera Festival includes a retrospective of Campion’s films.

During her visit to Kraków Jane Campion will meet students of the Jagiellonian University. She arrived to the city from Rome by car, which had been sent for her by the organizers of the event due to the disruptions in air traffic. (mk)
