Komorowski lead slip

Though Bronislaw Komorowski is still a clear leader in the latest opinion poll by SMG / KRC, his lead over Jaroslaw Kaczynski has shortened slightly.

 

In the first round of the presidential elections scheduled for June 20, acting president Bronislaw Komorowski can count on the support of 45 percent of respondents, while Jaroslaw Kaczynski, former prime minister and twin brother of the late Lech Kaczynski would receive 30 per cent of the vote. Compared to a previous survey taken one week ago, Komorowski has lost 2 percentage points, with Jaroslaw Kaczynski gaining 3 points.

 

Other candidates are far behind. SLD chief Grzegorz Napieralski enjoys the support of 5 percent of respondents, independent Andrzej Olechowski and PSL’s and Waldemar Pawlak are on three percent. Marek Jurek would get two percent of the vote and Andrzej Lepper one percent.

In a head-to-head second round, scheduled for July 4, Bronislaw Komorowski would get 55 percent to Jaroslaw Kaczynski 34 percent. (Loss of 1 percentage point). 11 percent. respondents did not yet know for whom to vote.


Seven percent of those questioned said they had yet to make up their minds.

 

Seventy percent said that they viewed Bronislaw Komorowski’s role as acting head of state since the death of President Kaczynski in the Smolensk air disaster “positively”. (pg)
