The District Court in Warsaw has vetted Jaroslaw Kaczynski, ruling that his statement was true and valid.
During the court hearing, prosecutors from the Institute of National Remembrance said that Jaroslaw Kaczynski had already undergone the vetting process in 2008, when he formally declared that he had not co-operated with communist secret services.
Jaroslaw Kaczynski left the courtroom after the hearing and did not wait to hear the result.
Records held by the Institute of National Remembrance, which is in charge of vetting presidential candidates in the election, state that Jaroslaw Kaczynski was invigilated by secret services from 1979 when he was a member of the Solidarity trade union and other opposition movements.
According to Polish law, all presidential candidates who were born before 1 August 1972 need to undergo the vetting procedure. If a court finds that a candidate lied in his vetting statement, he may be deprived of the right to run for the presidency for the following ten years. (jb)
