JP2 marathon in Katowice

To mark the anniversary of the birth of John Paul II, the local archbishop, Katowice mayor, journalists and actors will take part in a Marathon of reading out works by the late pope in Katowice, southern Poland.

 

The event, held at the Silesian Theatre in Katowice, commenced at noon today.

 

Alongside prominent figures, the event is also open to the public, Małgorzata Długowska Błach from the Silesian Theatre told Polish Radio: "We would like to welcome anyone willing to take part in the marathon, to go on the stage and read out their favourite excerpt, to share their impressions and reflections," adding that "we would also like to invite those who would just like to come and listen to these texts."

 

The marathon will last until 22 May. (aba)
