Flood victims turn out to vote

20.06.2010

Voters in Sandomierz, south-east Poland, have gone to the polling stations after half of the town was inundated by recent floods there.

Polling stations all opened on time in the town, with some eager citizens forming queues by dawn.

One polling station had to be moved due to the continuing high water in Sandomierz, with the town providing special buses to transport residents to polling stations.

Residents who want to cast their vote, but live in areas still affected by the high water, are being transported by amphibian transporters to polling stations. (jb)
