Candidate in the first round of presidential elections last Sunday, Andrzej Olechowski (right) says he will support Bronislaw Komorowski in the second round of the elections in on July 4.
"Bronislaw Komorowski gets my vote, ”Olechowski , said at a press conference, Thursday.
Pawel Piskorski, leader of the Democratic Party, which backed Olechowski in the first round of elections (when he received just 1.4 percent of the vote share) said the decision of his party to support Komorowski in the second round was taken at Wednesday's meeting of the party’s ruling council.
“We decided to vote for Komorowski because we are afraid that his main rival in the presidential election Jaroslaw Kaczynski will introduce the Fourth Polish Republic [
plan for moral revolution and political change proposed by the Law and Justice party],” said Piskorski.
Bronislaw Komorowski is meeting with third placed candidate Grzegorz Napieralski (SLD) today to canvass his support in the July 4 run off with Jaroslaw Kaczynski. Napieralski gained almost 14 percent of the vote in the first round. (pg/mg)
