Komorowski on course for victory

28.06.2010

According to an opinion poll for Polish Radio, Civic Platform’s Bronisław Komorowski has the support of 51.3 percent of voters ahead of next Sunday’s second round of Poland’s presidential elections.

Jarosław Kaczynski (Law and Justice) is on 43.3 percent, shows the opinion poll with 5.4 percent undecided.

The results of the survey also show that a significant part of the society is alienated from politics, says head of the Homo Homini Institute Marcin Duma:

"We can see a trend of shifting away from politics - this entails distrust towards politicians,\” he told Polish Radio. “A part of the society does not feel represented by state officials, which means that they deem the contending candidates inadequate."

The survey was conducted on 25 June from a sample of 1,093 citizens. (pg/ab)
