The Law and Justice (PiS) candidate has announced that he’ll give up the leadersip of his party if he becomes president in the second round of elections on July 4.
Jaroslaw Kaczynski has not hinted at who would take over the role if he were to become Poland’s next president, however.
Talking to RMF Radio Thursday morning, Jaroslaw Kaczynski said “if I win, I’ll give up the leadership of the party, I’ll even resign from the party’s membership.”
The PiS presidential hopeful underlined that he believes he will win the run-off against rival from Civic Platform, Bronislaw Komorowski, on Sunday.
“I will be a president for every Pole,” Kaczynski said during the interview, refraining from commenting the Smolensk catastrophe in which his twin brother, Lech, died along with 95 others on April 10.
Commenting on Wednesday’s debate, the head of Law and Justice summed up the meet by stating that “I hope that I managed to convince more Poles than my partner [Komorowski], but we will see.” (jb)
