Candidates in frantic last days of campaigning

01.07.2010

In the final days of the election campaign before Sunday’s vote in Poland’s presidential election, Bronisław Komorowski is touring the north of the country, while Jarolsaw Kaczynski is having meetings in Warsaw and Silesia.

Civic Platform’s Bronislaw Komorowski’s schedule include a visit to the seaside resort of Rewal, where voters’ turnout in the first round of the elections on June 20 was highest in the country, at over 80 percent.

In Kołobrzeg the acting president since the death of Lech Kaczynski on April 10 will lay flowers at the grave of MP Sebastian Karpiniuk, who was also killed in the Smolensk air crash.

Law and Justice leader Jarosław Kaczyński, meanwhile, was in Warsaw this morning where he met with representatives of Polish business circles. In the afternoon he is in Silesia in the south, and will end the day in the north-eastern city of Białystok. (ek/pg)
