Director Borcuch wins award at Brussels Film Festival

02.07.2010

Jacek Borcuch’s Wszystko co kocham (All That I Love) has won the Best Screenplay Award at the International Film Festival in Brussels.

Borcuch, the director of the film, is also the author of the script. Set in 1981, during the Solidarity revolution in Poland, the film tells about four teenagers who form a punk group as a way to express their longing for freedom and rebellion towards the grey socialist reality that surrounds them.

Their lyrics and music find appreciation at a music festival where they can see thousands of punk rock fans who share their feelings. One of the boys, a son of an army officer, falls in love with a daughter of a Solidarity activist. The film shows how politics interferes with the private lives of people and families.

Earlier this year, Borcuch’s film was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in Salt Lake City in the category ‘World Cinema Narrative Competition’.

Thirty nine-year old Jacek Borcuch started his career as an actor, appearing in several high-acclaimed films. All That I Love is his fourth film. (mk)
