Despite a near certain victory for Civic Platform’s Komorowski, Poland’s south-eastern Subcarpathian province remains a bastion of support for Law and Justice's Kaczynski.
Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the Law and Justice candidate managed to secure his highest overall majority in the south-eastern province, gaining 65.77 percent of the ballot.
Bronislaw Komorowski managed to gain 34.23 of the vote in the region. The Civic Platform candidate won a majority in the Bieszczady district, as well as in the towns of Sanok, Rzeszow and Tarnobrzeg.
However, Jaroslaw Kaczynski managed to gain a landslide victory in the Ropczyce-Sedziszow district, winning 78.19 percent there, as well as a solid 76.39 percent in Lezajsk. The Law and Justice hopeful won over 75 percent in Brozow and Kolbuszowa.
The highest turnout in the region was recorded in Rzeszow, with 62.43 percent of voters turning out to cast their ballot. Electoral turnout is a reported 56 percent in the region, with 95 percent of the votes counted nationwide. (jb)
