The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG) has warned that 128 districts in Poland are susceptible to drought this summer.
The State research institute issued a warning stating that “during the period May 11 – July 10, we ascertain a risk of agricultural drought in the territory of Poland,” adding that the water table in many parts of the country recorded a negative reading in the Insitute’s research.
Warnings of drought have been issued for 128 districts, mainly in the western Wielkopolska, Western Pomerania and Lubusz provinces, where soil is mainly of a light sand texture. (jb)
