Polish Post wins stamp prize

20.07.2010

The Polish Post has won an international competition for stamp design with a Valentine’s Day stamp.

The stamp issued for Valentine’s Day in 2009, with the inscription ‘I love you’, was named the most beautifully designed stamp at the competition in Asiago, northern Italy.

Designed by Magdalena Blazkow, with a face value of 1.45 zloty, it features the four leaf clover, which symbolizes hope, faith, love and luck. It has three green leaves and one pink.

A special collector’s envelope that was issued with the stamp bears George Sand’s famous quote: ‘There is only one happiness in life – to love and be loved.’

Last year, Poland also won the highest award at the same competition, for a stamp issued on the occasion of the plenary session of PostEurop in Krakow. (mk/mmj)
