President-elect Bronislaw Komorowski, Democratic Left Alliance leader Grzegorz Napieralski and PM Donald Tusk are the most trustworthy politicians, shows a survey by CBOS.
As many as 66 percent of Poles trust Bronislaw Komorowski, which is one percentage point more than a month ago. Grzegorz Napieralski is considered trustworthy by 62 percent of respondents and Donald Tusk by 58 percent. The Democratic Left Alliance leader has earned most trust since the last set of opinion polls. In April, only 25 percent of Poles trusted Napieralski, in June the number increased to 50 percent and in July to 62 percent.
Apart from Komorowski, Napieralski and Tusk, Poles also trust Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski (54 percent), President of the National Bank of Poland Marek Belka (48 percent), the opposition Law and Justice leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski (48 percent) and Health Minister Ewa Kopacz (45 percent). Next follow: Deputy PM and leader of the Polish Peasants Party Waldemar Pawlak (42 percent) and the new Speaker of the lower house of parliament, Grzegorz Schetyna.
On the other hand, the least trustworthy politician turned out to be Civic Platform maverick Janusz Palikot. As many as 54 percent of respondents do not trust him, which is 16 percentage points more than in April. The Law and Justice leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski also joined Palikot at the top of the list with 34 percent of Poles not trusting him. However, since the Smolensk catastrophe the number of Poles who do not trust Kaczynski has considerably decreased.
The survey shows that Poles have now more trust in those who did well in the presidential race in June, i.e., Bronislaw Komorowski, Grzegorz Napieralski and Jaroslaw Kaczynski. The poll was conducted on 8-14 July among 899 Poles. (mg/mmj)
