Former presidential aides look for new employers

23.07.2010

After the recent election of Bronislaw Komorowski as president, many employees of the Presidential Chancellery that worked for Lech Kaczynski are now looking for other gainful employment, with some expected to (re)start a political career in the confines of Law and Justice.

Jacek Sasin, who was deputy head of the Presidential Chancellery, is billed to stand for election in the local government polls in the Autumn. In the past, Sasin was already once Governor of the Mazovia Province as well as head of the capital’s Civil Registry Office.

Andrzej Duda, former undersecretary of state in Lech Kaczynski’s chancellery, is returning to academia. Until 2006 he worked as an academic in the Faculty of Law at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Duda is expected to stand in the mayoral elections in Krakow from Law and Justice, and as a former deputy justice minister can count on support from followers of former justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro, who also hails from Krakow.

Bozena Borys Szopa, another undersecretary of state is going back to social work and co-operation with the Solidarity trade union, although she may stand for a parliamentary post in the general elections billed for 2011.

Witold Waszczyskowski may return to the Ministry of Foreign Affiars, although his ties to the late president may harm his diplomatic career, reports add, stating that the former deputy head of the National Security Bureau was highly critical of the Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski. (jb)
