Political cleansing in security office?

27.07.2010

The ruling Civic Platform is preparing reshuffles in the National Security Bureau aiming at getting rid of several officials related to the opposition Law and Justice party, claims a leading Polish daily.

Rzeczpospolita writes that new speaker of the lower house of parliament and the acting president Grzegorz Schetyna has already received the new personnel plan for the National Security Bureau (BBN).

Current head of the bureau General Stanislaw Koziej has confirmed that “there will be changes in the National Security Bureau if the President approves them.”

According to the plan, 14 of 94 employees will be made redundant. Earlier, right after Civic Platform’s Bronislaw Komorowski won the presidential elections on July 4, two BBN employees resigned – Witold Waszczykowski – the former Law and Justice Defence Minister Aleksander Szczyglo’s deputy, and General Zbigniew Nowak.
