Coal mine marihuana farm busted

10.08.2010

Two Polish men were detained by police as they tended their marihuana plantation growing on the waste heap of a colliery in Ruda Śląska, southern Poland.

The men were carrying with them water and fertilizer when they were arrested by police.

Silesian police had received information about marihuana growing on the colliery waste site some days ago and kept the place under observation until Monday when the pair of amateur gardeners, arrived to feed and water the plants.

Officers seized seeds, a home-made hothouse as well as 23 marihuana plants ranging from 10 cms to 1 and a half metres tall. The two growers, residents of Mikołów aged 19 and 20, face up to three years in jail. (ek)
