The late President Lech Kaczynski
’s son-in-law Marcin Dubieniecki - husband of his daughter Marta - is to testify in relation to fraud at the SKOK credit union.
The District Court in the western city of Wroclaw has exempted lawyer Marcin Dubieniecki and his associate Marek Dubieniecki, from a professional confidentiality, which has prevented him testifying in the case.
“The Prosecutor
’s Office has already tried to interrogate the two lawyers but they refused,” says Malgorzata Klaus from the Prosecutor’s Office in Wroclaw.
In mid July, officers from the Internal Security Agency entered Marek and Marcin Dubieniecki’s law firm in the northern city of Kwidzyn, seizing documents on the SKOK credit union.
In 2008, an investigation on wheedling 12 million zloty (3 million euro) out of the credit union was opened by the Prosecutor
’s Office in Wroclaw. Seven people have already been accused in relation to the case. Several months ago, media reported that Marcin and Marek Dubieniecki might have been involved in defrauding money out of the union.
Lech Kaczynski
’s son-in-law has denied the accusations. (mg)
