An application has been submitted to the southern city of Krakow’s town council on the erection of four busts depicting the Smolensk victims who died on 10 April in the presidential plane crash.
“We have plans to include the busts of [four] people who died in the Smolensk catastrophe on 10 April,” Kazimierz Cholewa, chairman of the Friends’ Association of Park Jordana told local press.
The busts would be of President Lech Kaczynski, Poland’s last president-in-exile Ryszard Kaczorowski, Solidarity legend Anna Walentynowicz, as well as General Bishop Tadeusz Ploski, clerical head of the Armed Forces.
The memorials are to stand in Krakow’s Park Jordana, where there are already 39 busts of famous Poles, including Pope John Paul II, Marie Curie-Sklodowska, Jozef Pilsudski, as well as the Blessed Father Jerzy Popieluszko. (jb)
