Despite being slowly brought out of an induced coma, six year-old Tomek, who received a liver transplant last week after eating poisoned mushrooms, has still not fully regained consciousness, say hospital staff.

A statement by the children’s clinic in Warsaw informed on Wednesday morning added that the boy is not breathing on his own and remains attached to a ventilator.

Tomek underwent abdominal surgery yesterday to repair damage caused by deadly mushrooms he ate two weekends ago.

It has also been revealed that the liver donor was a 25 year-old man who died in a road accident. (pg)
